Clun in the Sun

A wonderful Bank Holiday weekend just gone where we were extremely busy: Friday night at Hereford Cathedral for the Hereford River Carnival, Sunday at our usual haunt of The Big Apple Blossomtime Festival at Putley and on Monday at the Clun Green Man Festival with other sides.  Below a couple of photos from sunny Clun.

One more Wednesday “pub night” to go in summer 2017, Wednesday 6 September at Wye Valley Brewery’s flagship pub, The Barrels in Hereford.

A favourite haunt of Leominster Morris, mostly because of the WV Stout, we look forward to a good night.  Dancing from about 8.15 pm.

Pictured above we were dancing there on a very sunny day in July 2015 along with the Chipping Campden Morris Men.

Did you know?  The pub’s amazing front sign was made by one of us: our Tim of Fine Furniture Ltd.  The man is indeed talented.

The Americans are coming

So Tuesday 27th June sees us host one of the top US morris sides, Minnesota Traditional Morris as they embark on a summer tour of England.  We’ll be dancing at one of our favourite boozers, The Tram Inn, Eardisley (winner of the Good Pub Guide Best Outside Toilets 2013, no less).  Kick-off is 8pm and we will also be joined by Jenny Pipes Morris & Foxwhelp Morris.  Come see!

The Minnesota men continue their tour of England in (including) Adderbury, Sheffield and Windsor, dancing with many local sides before returning back to the USA later in the summer.

“Joy come to our Jolly Wassail”

It’s tomorrow folks, the 2017 Leominster Wassail, 7pm on 6 January at The Tram, Eardisley.

To whet our whistles we did a private wassail last night for Oldfields Orchard & Hobsons Brewery at Oldfields farm.  One of our guys, Josh, works on the farm and invited us to perform the wassail, mummers play and dance for the staff, customers and friends.  Getty Images’ Matt Cardy also came and the photos are now adorning the BBC News website!

All about the Apples

We love this time of year: the Herefordshire roads are full of tractors pulling the potato harvest, and soon the apple harvest.  This also means plenty of apple festivals across the region (no-one has ventured as far as a potato festival yet, can’t think why….)

We’re dancing at two of these, at Tenbury Applefest this Saturday, 1 October, and The Big Apple in Much Marcle next Saturday, 8 October.

At Tenbury we’ll be dancing on the main festival site at The Burgage at 12.15 and 2.00pm – see for more details.

The Big Apple sees us in 3 locations – at Weston’s Cider factory at 11.30am; at Gregg’s Pitt farm at 12.30pm and at Hellens Manor at 3.00pm.  See for more information.

We’d love it if you come and see us do what we do best!
